Vintage Illustrations

Vesalius obtaining his first skeleton outside the walls of Louvain. Fig. 2 in c1930, "the Human Body", by Logan Clendening.  Artist: Dale Beronius.

Engraving by Richard Fayerweather Babcock (born Chicago, Illinois); trained in Germany, Europe, etc... Artist of the Danish Dragon Viking ship on my Denman family history told elsewhere (I use it for emphasis, because it was already part of my art collection of older, finer prints.  It's only an old vintage book illustration from Journeys Through Bookland, c1922); w/ the Double Sun-&-Large Rampant Cat standard, and the shadowy little Raven Escort.
Gilt design on board of late 19th century travel guide by famed author August H , "Days in Paris".  Book filled with fine engravings.

Closer detail.

Closer.
